Business Events Season Closes for 2017

The City has closed its business events season for 2017 with planning already underway for 2018, following a sell-out business breakfast last week that focused on social media marketing.

Partnering again with the Melville-Cockburn Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), the City hosted a Business Breakfast Series and its annual forum, Your Business Our Future, which is fast becoming a flagship annual event for local businesses.

City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey highlighted the City’s commitment to supporting growth and prosperity for local businesses and the local economy.

“For the last two years we have been focused on improving our engagement with local businesses and as we start to plan for 2018, there will be new opportunities for them to learn something new to support their business and get more involved in what we do as a local government to encourage growth and a stronger local economy,” said Mayor Aubrey.

Working closely throughout the year with the MCCC and more recently other partner Business Foundations, the City of Melville has taken two approaches with its events.

The Business Breakfast Series offers quarterly working breakfasts which are aimed at giving participants practical information that can be immediately taken back and implemented into their business.

The mid-year Your Business Our Future forum is held once a year from 4.00pm and includes presentations from industry experts, some of whom have included the Small Business Commissioner and Chief Economist from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of WA.

Importantly a Q&A session is also scheduled, an increasingly popular EXPO provides access and promotion of various businesses and business support services, and all is followed by a catered networking session to end the evening.

As well as holding events, the City offers a central online Business Hub at, which is still evolving, and aims to make it easier for businesses to identify and locate information and services they might need. The City’s community engagement platform, Melville Talks, hosts a Business Topic Talks page at and businesses are also encouraged to subscribe to eNews - Business Matters to receive the latest updates directly.
